UPDATE: The studio version of “Thank God For Girls” has officially been released. Hear it here.
Last night, at an IHeartRadio event in Los Angeles, Weezer debuted their brand new song “Thank God For Girls” by playing it not once but twice, recording it for future broadcast. You can find the setlist below:
Here is the first known audio of Weezer performing “Thank God For Girls,” though for completists’ sake, it’s actually the second performance of it. EDIT: The audio has been pulled offline. The studio version of “Thank God For Girls” will be released digitally this Monday, October 26.
It has yet to be confirmed if “Thank God For Girls” is a standalone single or leading up to a new album. Weezer’s most recent full-length, Everything Will Be Alright In The End, came out in 2014 but the band has been known for their quick turnarounds sometimes, most recently releasing three albums in three years (2008’s Red Album, 2009’s Raditude and 2010’s Hurley), so it’s not entirely surprising they’re following up EWBAITE so quickly (though it is tragic the band never embarked on a full-fledged tour in support of that phenomenal record).
Weezer has a handful of holiday shows lined up:
Dec 08 105.7 The Point’s HoHo Shows St Louis, MO w/Wavves
Dec 10 The Rave/Eagles Club Milwaukee, WI w/Glass Animals
UPDATE: Weezer has confirmed that “Thank God For Girls” will be released on October 26, according to a Twitter post:
