PREMIERE: Holy Pinto’s “Best Pals (’13-15)” is goofy two-piece punk at its best

The easiest comparison one can make toward Holy Pinto is the Front Bottoms, and it’s incredibly apt—both bands are two-pieces at the base level, and each group writes clever, lighthearted pop-punk songs that turn music videos into parties. The only difference? Holy Pinto is from Canterbury, U.K., so switch out a Jersey accent for a British accent and you’re on the right track. Today, we’re premiering the band’s brand new music video for “Best Pals (’13-15),” a standalone single that they didn’t want to wait until next year to release on their new album, Congratulations. The band comments:

“‘Best Pals’ is a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek song that touches on perceived rejection and a belligerent, angry response to those feelings. It builds until it fights back into a nonsensical Latin section inspired by my recent obsession with awful reggaeton-pop music. The verses put forward two characters expressing their own plights—we thought it’d be great to pit them against each other in the video. It’s all very fun, until you’re being dropkicked in the back while wearing a spidersuit.”

Holy Pinto’s new album, Congratulations, will come out in early 2016. In the meantime, check out the band’s back catalog.
