PREMIERE: Safety’s ‘Congratulate Me, I’ve Lost My Mind’ is all killer, no filler (full EP stream)

Usually, the way things go is people spend their lives in New York and then move to Florida. (At least that’s what we learned from Seinfeld reruns.) Not so for Safety: The indie-punk three-piece got their start in Tampa, Florida, before relocating to Brooklyn a few years back (and recruiting a new drummer in the process). Safety began to make waves with their 2012 full-length Night Lights and will surely keep the momentum up with their new EP, Congratulate Me, I’ve Lost My Mind. Sonically (and vocally), it’s a cross between Small Brown Bike and Armor For Sleep, with hints of everything from Hot Rod Circuit to Boys Night Out creeping in, and a fast-paced tempo that never falters—that might sound like a mess on paper but it totally works perfectly on recording. Vocalist/guitarist Andy Diaz comments:

“We’re really excited to share ‘Congratulate Me, I’ve Lost My Mind’ with everyone. The five songs on this record showcase over a year of writing and recording. It’s hard to describe the attachment we feel to them, but we hope they will mean as much to others as they do to us.”

Congratulate Me, I’ve Lost My Mind comes out August 14 via Community Records and can be pre-ordered here.
