PREMIERE: Reflections’ “Actias Luna” turns tragedy into triumph

Minnesotan metalcore quartet Reflections has walked down a long, winding and occasionally treacherous road to get to where they are today. Frontman Jake Wolf has struggled with various forms of addiction throughout the band’s existence, even getting hooked on heroin for a time. In the midst of that, his house burned down—with one of his closest friends inside. This is real life, folks, not some upper-middle-class suburban teenager with neck tats singing about how mom and dad just don’t understand. Wolf was able to channel the trauma and tragedy present in his life to create Reflections’ third album, the Will Putney-produced The Color Clear, and the result is a triumphant display of passion and perseverance. Today, we’re debuting the Max Moore-directed music video for the album’s first single, “Actias Luna.” Jake Wolf explains:

“We chose this track because we feel that it shows our true sound and direction—a sound that was found while writing ‘The Fantasy Effect’ and lost in the midst of writing and recording our album ‘Exi(s)t.’  For those who were expecting something a bit different sounding from us, rest easy knowing that our new album goes through stages. There really is something for everyone.”

The Color Clear will be released by Good Fight/eOne Music on September 18 and can be pre-ordered here or on iTunes.
