PREMIERE: Indie-pop duo IAMDYNAMITE’s “My Love” channels everything from the Police to Hall & Oates

Indie-pop duo IAMDYNAMITE hails from both the Motor City and the City of Oaks (Detroit and Raleigh, North Carolina, respectively), but their feels straight out of Philadelphia with a touch of London. On their new album, Wasa Tusa, the pair channels everything from the blue-eyed soul of Hall & Oates to the somber reggae-tinged vocals of the Police, especially on new song “My Love.” Drummer/vocalist Chris Phillips elaborates:

“It’s not always cool to be a drummer and just lay into the one groove for an entire song, but this song makes me move with the groove. For me the simplicity of the beat, the catchy melodies of all of the parts of the song and the noisy, washed-out ending create something everybody can get into. And you can really feel the emotions we captured with this song. I can see it during a love scene in a big-budget movie or the background music in a fast food restaurant. Either way, listening will make you happy in all the right places.”

Wasa Tusa comes out August 7 via Brando Records and can be pre-ordered here.
