Deafheaven stream “Brought to the Water”

Black metal giants Deafheaven have released a stream of the lead track from their beyond-anticipated new full-length, New Bermuda. Stream “Brought to the Water” below.

At eight minutes and 35 seconds in length, “Brought to the Water” marks the shortest lead track since the band’s 2010 demo. All the same, it represents one-fifth of the band’s recently detailed third full-length, which will see a release Oct. 2 on ANTI-.

“We wanted to share ‘Brought To The Water’ first because it gives a good idea of the overall sonic tone of the record and really evokes feelings that come with uprooting and throwing oneself into the complacent, monotonous routine of adulthood,” said vocalist George Clarke.

And what a glorious return it is, characterized by Clarke’s better-enunciated theatrics (previously heard on last year’s “From the Kettle Onto the Coil” single), a piano-led fade-out, reassuring blast beats, and waves of guitar parts that start grim but eventually become more Pixies than Darkthrone.

Deafheaven released the critically acclaimed Sunbather in 2013. They’ll tour with Tribulation and, on select dates, Envy, this fall. See those dates below.
