It’s been a weird 24 hours for Nathan Williams. The mastermind behind slacker-pop band Wavves released a brand new single, “Way Too Much,” from their upcoming album V yesterday, only to find out his record label, Warner Bros., wasn’t too happy about it, telling him they wanted the track pulled down immediately.

Apparently, the label made good on its threats, pulling the track off YouTube, which causes Williams to launch into a 140-characters-driven tirade:

Then, to combat his label pulling down his music, Williams uploaded the new track to Soundcloud—where it was promptly pulled back down due to a copyright claim from Warner Bros. To whit:

However, Williams must’ve convinced Soundcloud he had proper authority to release his own music (which sounds absurd but, hey, it’s the music industry), because the song is back on Soundcloud and you can hear it below:

In addition, Williams revealed V‘s intended cover art last night via social media, though it’s not clear whether or not this will actually be the cover art whenever the album hits stores (which, at this point, no one even knows when that will be):

As of right now, there doesn’t appear to be a release date for V, though Williams initially claimed it would be out in September. But in (presumably) happier news, Wavves is touring this fall with Twin Peaks, Swimmers and Steep Leans, and we’re pretty sure his label can’t cancel the shows:
