I don’t know about you, but here at Substream HQ, it’s a beautiful 75 degrees and sunny outside, and all I can think of is closing the ol’ laptop and starting my weekend early. If you’re in the same boat as me—or if it’s dreary where you are and you need a musical pick-me-up—check out this reggae cover (via New Noise) of the Descendents classic “Get The Time” off their 1986 album Enjoy!, performed by none other than Obi Fernandez [pictured], best known as the frontman for ska/reggae act Westbound Train. The cover is a part of a flexidisc series by RareBreed Recording Co., a new label co-founded by Fernandez and Less Than Jake drummer Vinnie Fiorello. The purpose of the label “is to give the listener an over the top experience both audibly and visually,” so if you want to partake in the flexi series, you can subscribe here. While you wait for your first package to arrive, add Fernandez’s gorgeous Descendents cover to your Ska-B-Q playlist for this weekend and enjoy. What’s that? You don’t know what a Ska-B-Q is? Easy: You grill lots of good food, drink lots of good beverages and jam lots of good ska and reggae while surrounded by your best friends. Simple!
