Coheed And Cambria’s new album is non-conceptual—hear a new song now

Everyone knows Coheed And Cambria as that crazy prog-rock band with wild concept albums about space and stuff—to be honest, that’s about all the details I can confidently say I know—but the band changed things up for their new album, the Jay Joyce-produced The Color Before The Sun. It’s just a regular record: No concept, no Amory Wars references, no sci-fi, nothing. Just straight-up rock songs, for the first time in Coheed’s career.

“I kind of want people to know that Coheed can write that sort of record,” frontman Claudio Sanchez said in a press release. “I’ve always said in the past that there’s never been a limitation on the band. It makes no sense to me to draw a line in the sand and never cross it.”

The Color Before The Sun comes out October 9 on 300 Entertainment; hear the first track, “You Got Spirit, Kid,” below.
