Jimmy Eat World frontman Jim Adkins announces first-ever solo tour, teases solo album

After a solid 20 years of continuous activity, 2015 appears to be the year the members of Jimmy Eat World take some time for themselves. First, we brought you news of drummer Zach Lind’s new band, the electro-pop duo the Wretched Desert. Now, we’ve caught wind of frontman Jim Adkins embarking on his first-ever solo tour this summer, in such exotic locales as Maquoketa, Iowa, and not one but two shows in Montana. Adkins explains:

“In the past I have been involved with solo work, playing mostly benefit concerts locally in my home of Arizona. Toward the end of our last European tour I decided to stick around and play a solo show in Berlin, DE. I thought to myself: hey, this is different and also pretty fun… I could keep going.

So why not? This summer and fall of 2015 I will be touring with me and a guitar. Playing new solo material, rock band songs and covers (no freebird!). I am trying to play places and venues we haven’t been to in a long time with the band, or maybe ever.”

A little birdie has told us that Adkins will be releasing a solo album later this year, too, though that has not been confirmed by his camp yet. In the meantime, you can hear a snippet of a new song and see the tour dates below:
