EXCLUSIVE: The Things They Carried’s ‘Melancholia’ is screamy art-rock at its finest (full-album stream)

It’s hard to judge New York City quartet the Things They Carried off of just one song—which is why you don’t have to. We’re streaming their debut EP, Melancholia, below, and it is six tracks that carry common emotional threads but bounce between slamming screamo and carnivalesque pop, touching all sorts of sonic stones in between. The Things They Carried aren’t content with being pigeonholed, so good luck even trying. Vocalist/guitarist Steve Schwartz explains:

“This record means everything to us. We poured our hearts and souls into it. We’re excited to release something that we feel is extremely unique and completely ourselves. We can’t wait to share our music with everyone! ‘Melancholia’ will take you on an emotionally deep and personal journey.”

Melancholia comes out June 23 via Revival Recordings and can be pre-ordered here.
