EXCLUSIVE: The Scandals’ “Second Thought” is a wistful, passionate punk rock epic

There’s no doubt about it: the Scandals are a New Jersey punk band. Sure, they look the part, but what’s most important is sounding the part, and this quartet know the ins and outs of emotive, gritty punk rock. It’s a big reason why they fit so well with recently reunited punk trio Plow United on their upcoming split 7-inch: It doesn’t matter if you’re young or old, because passion resonates no matter what. Frontman Jared Hart explains the story behind their latest song, “Second Thought”:

“‘Second Thought’ was an interesting one to write. It’s about getting to that point in your life where people who were important to you growing up become strangers. It was something I was always afraid of but it’s always bound to happen. Those people still hold a place in the back of my mind but the connection can never be completely rebuilt.”

The Plow United/The Scandals split 7-inch comes out July 7 via Artistic Integrity Records and can be pre-ordered here.

The Scandals are currently wrapping up a European tour and have a handful of U.S. dates on their plate:

Jun 19 Glockenbach Munchen, Germany
Jun 20 KTS Freiburg, Germany
Jun 22 MAU Club w/The Gaslight Anthem Rostock, Germany
Aug 04 The Sinclair w/Darkbuster Cambridge, MA Tickets
Oct 30 THE FEST Gainesville, FL
