Singer/songwriter Brian Marquis (formerly of Therefore I Am) has announced the surprise release of I Miss The 90’s, a five-song covers EP where he tackles some of the biggest names in ’90s alt-rock, including Weezer, Nirvana and Radiohead. Marquis isn’t playing them alone, though; his all-star backing band includes Doug Grean (ex-Scott Weiland, The Terpsichords) on piano/keyboards,  Julio Tavarez (As Tall As Lions) on bass and Will Noon (fun., Straylight Run) on drums, as well as guest vocals from Vinnie Caruana (The Movielife, I Am The Avalanche). Marquis explains the story behind the release:

“The ’90s were a time where I was beginning to discover music on my own and it was an exciting time for me growing up at the peak of the grunge era and the height of MTV’s power to communicate through music videos to the masses. Though it was very hard to choose, I picked five of my favorite songs from the ’90s to pay tribute to the artists and time in my life that ultimately got me hooked on becoming a musician and trying to take over the world, or at least a small part of it.”

You can order the EP on CD or cassette (how utterly ’90s!), or find it digitally through whatever service you prefer, and you can stream it below courtesy of Allston Pudding.
