EXCLUSIVE: John Nolan (Taking Back Sunday) gets real in the raucous “Street Robbery Blues”

John Nolan has been an integral part of Taking Back Sunday’s second act since rejoining the band in 2010, just a few months after releasing his first solo album, Height. TBS’s career has kept him plenty busy since then, but he has finally found time time record that album’s follow-up, Sad Strange Beautiful Dream, with the help of producer Mike Sapone and musicians such as Brian Bonz, Mike Strandberg (Kevin Devine’s Goddamn Band), Dylan Ebrahimian (Gabriel The Marine), Ben Homola (Dashboard Confessional/Bad Books) and others. We’re thrilled to bring you the first new music from this release today, “Street Robbery Blues.” The song is a raucous first-hand retelling of a true story. Nolan explains:

“A year-and-a-half ago, I was walking home from a friend’s house when I was robbed at gunpoint. This song tells that story as truthfully as I was able.”

Sad Strange Beautiful Dream comes out July 27 on Collective Confusion and can be pre-ordered here.
