The Wretched Desert came about in 2014 when longtime Jimmy Eat World drummer Zach Lind returned home from tour and began converting his house’s living room into a music room alongside his wife Holly. After discovering how good the acoustics in the room were, he began recording himself playing drums, which then turned into full-blown instrumental demos, when then became real, honest-to-God songs when Holly began singing over them. The duo took their first batch of songs to producer Jamie Woolford (the Stereo, the Format) and the result is Street Lights, their debut EP.
Today, we’re thrilled to bring you the title track off of that EP. Zach Lind explains the story behind the song:
“This is the first song we’ve ever written together. When the music was coming together, we felt like it sounded like a late city night. It’s a sort of long-distance love song. When it’s good, you feel the other even when they’re not right next to you.”
