And now, a supercut of every time Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo sings about “pain”

Spoiler alert: Weezer is my all-time favorite band. I own all their albums on every imaginable format (yes, even cassettes); I’ve spent far too much money buying all those weird Japanese bootleg LPs on eBay; I’ve even gone on the Weezer Cruise—twice. But just because I love ’em doesn’t mean I can’t tease ’em, which is why I’m sharing this supercut of Rivers Cuomo singing “pain” over and over and over throughout his band’s 23-year career. I counted 23 different songs (and one song included twice), including some of their big singles (“The Good Life,” “”(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To”), some rarities (“Devotion,” “Superfriend”) and some newer material, too (“Ruling Me,” “Love Is The Answer”)—which just goes to show you that a songwriting trope can exist everywhere from the radio waves to crummy-sounding demo MP3s. Enjoy!
