Throwback Thursday: Watch Alkaline Trio blaze through their ‘Goddamnit’ album-release show in 1998

The members of Alkaline Trio have been pretty busy lately: Drummer Derek Grant just put out a solo record and is heading out on tour with his old band the Suicide Machines; bassist/vocalist Dan Andriano just recorded a new solo album in San Francisco with Jeff Rosenstock producing; and oh yeah, guitarist/vocalist Matt Skiba just replaced Tom DeLonge in Blink-182. Couple all of that with the band’s ongoing Past Live tour where they play virtually their entire catalog over the span of four nights means these three guys are busy.  But today’s Throwback Thursday brings us back to a much simpler time in the Trio’s life—their album-release show for their debut full-length Goddamnit, filmed on Oct. 2, 1998 at Chicago’s infamous Fireside Bowl. The show, which features original Trio drummer Glenn Porter, is a bit rough at times performance-wise but features such future classics as “Cringe,” “San Francisco” and “Nose Over Tail.” Enjoy!
