Spylacopa, the prog-metal project formed by John LaMacchia of Candiria, have announced details of their debut full-length, Parallels. The group previously released a self-titled EP in 2008 with a lineup consisting of Greg Puciato (the Dillinger Escape Plan) and Julie Christmas (ex-Made Out Of Babies) on vocals, multi-instrumentalist Jeff Caxide (Isis/Palms) and drummer Troy Young; this new album no longer has the involvement of Puciato but does feature Young’s drumming, which is surprising considering he was murdered in 2009 during a home invasion.
LaMacchia comments: “Troy Young tracked the drums for… most of what makes up this full-length, which is a huge reason why this record is being released. These are some of the last recordings of Troy Young tracking drums in a professional setting. After meeting Troy’s family during the trial of his murder, I felt somewhat obligated to get this record out. Troy would have wanted this record to come out and I feel that this is a way of helping to keep him active and present. He was such a talented young guy who was just getting a foothold in New York City as a working and functioning musician when he was killed.”
Parallels will be released March 31 on Rising Pulse Records and can be pre-ordered here.
