There’s no point in lying: We all like Taylor Swift, and for good reason—the woman knows how to write a mean pop hook. So we weren’t surprised when North Carolina emo-rock quintet Sullivan told us they had laid down a cover of her new jam “Style” from last year’s 1989. There’s no shame in loving pop music, folks. Take a listen to their faithful version below, courtesy of Spartan Records. Frontman Brooks Paschal comments:
“I first heard Taylor Swift’s album during a writing session, and ‘Style’ just stuck out to me. It’s driven in a way that music rarely is anymore. As I was working on the cover, I realized how universal of a song it was. I didn’t have to adapt to the style. It was just an example of how a great song could take endless forms.”
“Style” is available as a bonus download when you purchase Sullivan’s new album Heavy Is The Head on CD or limited-edition vinyl here. Or if you can wait a little bit longer, it will be on iTunes next Tuesday.
