Reformed emo pioneers Braid have announced that they will release Kids Get Grids, a two-song Record Store Day-exclusive 7″, on April 18 via Topshelf Records. In addition to the record’s title track, it will include “Because I Am,” a song originally written by ’90s emo band Broken Hearts Are Blue.

Kids Get Grids is Braid’s first release since 2014’s No Coast, which was the band’s comeback album following a 16-year period without a new full-length. The band reformed in 2010, then released an EP titled Closer to Closed in 2011.

“The drive has always been there to create new, exciting material that would speak to all of our fans, old and new,” said guitarist and vocalist Bob Nanna regarding the release of No Coast. “We’re excited with how the record turned out and look forward to Braid’s busy future.”

Topshelf also released La Vella, the new full-length from Nanna’s side project The City on Film, in December.
