So 3OH!3 and Bowling For Soup are on the new Blues Traveler album and we don’t know what to think anymore

Y’all remember Blues Traveler, right? Anyone alive in the ’90s couldn’t escape their massive Top 40 hits “Run Around” and “Hook,” but the harmonica-driven jam band were never really favorites with the Warped Tour crowd. All that may change with the release of Blues Traveler’s new album,  Blow Up The Moon, out April 7 on Loud & Proud Records. The album is a highly collaborative affair, with John Popper & Co. creating songs alongside 3OH!3 [pictured], Bowling For Soup, Plain White T’s, Secondhand Serenade and even Thomas Ian Nicholas (aka this guy from American Pie). Yeah, we really don’t know what to make of this either.

“We wanted to experiment with co-writing since we usually try to do everything in-house, in this misguided homage to the Beatles,” said Popper in a statement. “We found quality writers to see what they could bring to us as a band, and also people who could see our strengths, something that’s hard to see for yourself.”

You can hear the new track “Castaway” featuring Rome Ramirez (of Sublime With Rome) and the Dirty Heads below, if that’s what you’re into. And who knows: Maybe next Warped Wednesday, we’ll be seeing Blues Traveler added to the main stage. (Or not.)
