Let me preface this by saying that I am all for these 10 year anniversary tours. I’ve seen so many of them the past few years, and I love them. There’s something about the nostalgia, and the fun in reliving your high school days.
The latest 10 year anniversary tour to grace Columbus, Ohio was Motion City Soundtrack’s Commit This To Memory tour. I remember when this album first came out, I listened to it nonstop. So it’s safe to say I was excited to see MCS play the album straight through.
Justin Pierre was the perfect mix of awkward and quirky as he led us through the trip down memory lane. The crowd was excited to hear this great MCS album played straight through, which includes some of their hits such as “Everything Is Alright,” “LG FAUD,” and “Attractive Today.”
These 10 year anniversary shows are a great way to see how a band’s fanbase has grown up with them. MCS’ crowd was mostly people in their mid-to-late twenties, but there was also a healthy mixture of people of other ages, older and younger. A little bit of everyone was there.
It’s great to see these bands still hanging around and going strong after so many years, we can only hope to see more 10 year anniversary tours of later albums!
