Tuesday is a big day in the music industry. It’s the day of the week where albums drop, press releases are sent, and numbers start getting crunched. It’s also a great day to premiere music.

Today, we’ve already given you first listens to Dead Leaves’ new EP and a Tesla Rossa track. We’re topping that all off with Nominee’s new album I Woke Up.

Austin, TX based rockers, Nominee recorded their album with Joe Milligan of Anberlin. Fans of Anberlin, Taking Back Sunday, and Jimmy Eat World will love the sound Milligan and mastering engineer Paul Leavitt (The Used, Emarosa, Hit The Lights, Yellowcard) pulled out of these boys.

“From the beginning all we’ve ever really tried to say about ourselves is that we’re five guys trying to write honest music from the heart,” says the band. “For us, I Woke Up is the truest representation of that. We didn’t have a concept, we didn’t sit in a studio for months crafting the perfect rock record, it was just a part of our everyday lives. Simple as that. We came home from work and wrote songs together and practiced late into the night to make them what they are. The content and the songs are deeply personal to us because it is the emotional distillation of the past year. It’s about having something you care about and being uncompromising when it comes to seeing it through.”

The band will be opening for Anberlin on October 23, 2014 in Austin on the band’s final world tour.

Listen to the album below and pick it up on the band’s store or Bandcamp.
