The wait for a new Brand New album has been a long one. The band released Daisy in 2009 and their fans have been biding their time ever since, often arguing over which album is their best simply to pass the time.
Rumors have been flying over the past several months in regards to Brand New’s activity in the studio. In June, the band said they were getting the gear together to build a studio in addition to writing and recording new material. A recent post from producer Mike Sapone seems to back that up.
Sapone has produced a vast majority of the band’s studio albums including their debut Your Favorite Weapon, the Safety In Numbers Split, The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me, and Daisy.
As tracking goes, drums are normally recorded first. If that’s the case here, it seems Brand New has just begun the final tracking for a new album. If they go the Aaron Sprinkle route and record drums last, they may be nearly finished with the tracking process.
In either case, Brand New appears to be recording and that’s a win for everyone who has loved the band for so many years.
