REACTIONS premiere a brand new lyric video for their single “Some Way, Somehow” off their self-titled EP due for release June 3.
“Some Way, Somehow is actually one of our favorite songs on the EP. We had about 6 songs going into the studio when we were about to leave. We wrote “Some Way, Somehow” 3 days before we got on the plane headed to Bethesda. As soon as we started pre-production and tracking the basis of the song we knew we had to bring it with and push it on the EP. This song speaks to all of us in a lot of different levels. Originally, we wrote this song as a “gone for tour,” “missing home” type of song. Although, when we dove into the lyrics and started really tracking the song in the studio we realized the different levels of “missing home” there really was. Everyone has gone through that longing for somewhere or someone at some point in their lives. We tried to write this so everyone can relate and connect with the longing for someone or something mindset.”
Formed in 2011, hailing from Phoenix, Arizona REACTIONS consist of Michael Amorosia, Steve Splain, Josh Brown, and Nick Ayres. Combining their love for all things Metal, Pop, and Punk REACTIONS linked their pop/rock sound to form a more rock/post hardcore style integrating big choruses and melodies.
REACTIONS was founded on one question: “Music is something you hear, right?” In an era consumed by an obsession with appearance, the concept of “hearing” might as well be non-existent. REACTIONS launched the faceless movement soon after the band formed in 2011, until now. Amorosia explained “we wanted to ask people what their reaction to the music was not based on our image as a band.”
REACTIONS debuted their first EP, Under My Skin (produced by Dan Parker [A Change of Pace, The Summer Set, Hello Hollywood]) in 2011. Fast forwarding, the band released their sophomore EP, For What It’s Worth, (produced by Curtis Douglas [The Maine, Blessthefall, This Century)] in January 2012 which defined their post-hardcore sound. Following the EP release, REACTIONS attracted the attention of YouTube tastemaker Bryan Stars for the release of their single, “The Missing” which has over 50,000 views to date. The track later made the cut on their EP Archtypes, also released in 2012. Immediately after this release the band toured extensively coast to coast through 2013 landing them a few showcases at SXSW. Following their stint at SXSW the band released “Rebirth” again exclusively on Bryan Stars Youtube channel which has over 21,000 views to date.
This year the band is set to release their fourth self-titled EP including four brand new tracks produced by Taylor Larson and Matt Good, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Taylor Larson featuring their upcoming single “Some Way, Somehow.” Amorosia expanded. “We believe that the new REACTIONS EP is the most honest and true to ourselves. Honestly, it is the most confident we have been as a band when releasing an EP.”
