New York City’s MisterWives are thrilled to announce a US tour this spring as main support for label mates The Mowgli’s following their first appearance at SXSW. Kicking off in Dallas on March 16th, the tour tackles much of the Eastern US over the next month before wrapping up in Rhode Island on April 19th. MisterWives will be supporting their debut EP Reflections which was released on January 7th, 2014 via Photo Finish/Island Records. In addition to dates with The Mowgli’s, the band is set to play a special co-headlining set with Little Daylight at Neon Gold’s Popshop on February 27th at the Westway and will play their first Firefly Music Festival this June in Dover, DE.
The spring tour announcement comes as MisterWives continue to celebrate the success of their debut EP Reflections. After being released this January, it shot past the top spot on the Heatseekers chart and went on to debut at #84 on the Billboard 200 and #33 on the Digital Albums chart. It came in as the #4 debut of the week. Lead single “Reflections” was featured as the iTunes Single of the Week starting January 7th and was downloaded over 350,000 times that week before going on to spend three consecutive weeks in the Top 10 on Spotify’s Most Viral Tracks chart. The track resonated with fans and critics: “New York alt-pop outfit MisterWives soars on first single ‘Reflections,’” Billboard writes in a recent issue, “packing a saccharine vocal hook from singer Mandy Lee into an unorthodox, folk-meets-disco anthem.”
MisterWives – Mandy Lee (vox), Etienne Bowler (drums), and Will Hehir (bass) – came together to play their first ever show a year ago this month. Immediately after that breakout performance they were offered a deal by Photo Finish and began to record Reflections in a home studio at their apartment in the Bronx. In the fall, they hit the road for their first two national tours, beginning with Half Moon Run and later, American Authors and The Royal Concept. With the release of the EP, MisterWives thrived on the strength of Lee’s unique and powerful vocal and their ability to seamlessly blend genres. Teen Vogue notes that “They’re a flawless blend of folk and soul… but entirely their own, thanks to the hauntingly soulful voice of lead singer Mandy Lee.” Lee was also earmarked as one of 15 Fresh Females Who Will Rule Pop in 2014 by MTV Buzzworthy.
Now, following what has already been a whirlwind year, MisterWives is ready to take on Austin for their first SXSW followed by their spring tour with The Mowgli’s and a debut album in the works.
