Anton Kellner and The Lone Stars have released the first listen to their new track “Where We Used To Lay” featuring Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday, The Color Fred, Terrible Things). The band, comprised of ex-members of Holding Onto Hope and Briartone, now boasts a more mellow, feel good sound reminiscent of Sherwood and Death Cab for Cutie. The track is meant as a precursory tease to hold fans over while the band fleshes out further material in the studio. “Where We Used to Lay”’s soothing vocals and heavenly imagery are complimented flawlessly with the addition of Mascherino’s folk-tinged pipes.
“I had some imagery in my head one morning,” shares Kellner. “It was a couple running through a wheat field holding hands, and behind them was a huge wildfire that seemed to be approaching. I took this little mental image, and combined it with a few personal moments, and BOOM, there was the song. It is supposed to come off as nostalgic and bittersweet, but as always, it is up to the listener to apply the song, in which ever way that they feel.”
