Tyler, Texas rock and soul outfit, Cardboard Kids, have signed with Nashville, Tennessee-based American Echo Records. The new relationship with the boutique label follows a crossing of paths between the band and the label’s co-founder/producer, Tres Sasser. “When I first met the Cardboard Kids I was immediately impressed. Cool guys, who were deadly serious about writing fantastic rock and roll songs. They constantly blow me away with their focus and depth,” recalls Sasser.
Singer/guitarist, Jake Germany states, “We’re all extremely excited to be working with American Echo. It’s a comfortable fit for us and we’re going to be able to make the exact record that we have in mind. We couldn’t be more pleased.” The label’s founder, Robyn Davis, included, “The more time we spent with this band, hearing their vision for themselves and the music they wanted to create, we just felt that we couldn’t let a talent like this slip through our fingers.”
In July, The Kids will be heading to Nashville to track their debut full length record with Sasser and Grammy Award Winning engineer, Vance Powell (Jack White, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs). Guitarist Austin Cunningham explains, “We are beyond ecstatic to be working with Tres Sasser and Vance Powell on this album. The first time we met Tres, I instantly knew I wanted to do the record with him. He just got it. I am also thrilled to be working with Vance Powell. He has worked on some of my favorite records, so getting him on board is a dream come true!”
As far as touring plans are concerned, drummer, Brandon McFarlin shares that the band will “hit the road as soon as the completion of the record is done.” McFarlin also added that “there will be posting new dates in the very near future. We have several tricks up our sleeves and we’re almost ready to share.”
In addition, Cardboard Kids’ new music film, Demons on the Ropes, which features the tracks “Damaged” and “Oh, Child” from the band’s previous EP, will be released next Wednesday, May 8th.
