For the past three years, the Billboard Hot 100 Festival- held at the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York- has celebrated current chart-toppers as well as rising stars, up-and-comers, and those next to rise to the top. You may not recognize Phoebe Ryan just yet, but chances are you’ve heard a song she’s written: as a songwriter, she’s written for everyone from Britney Spears to Oh Honey.

On Day 1 of the festival, Phoebe Ryan was the first artist to perform on the Sun Stage. Despite a hectic start to her day (per a Tweet from that morning, she missed her alarm), she was ready to go when it came time to take the stage, performing some of her fan favorite singles like “Chronic” and “Dollar Bill.”

With vivid green hair and an ability to laugh at herself while still seeming put-together, Phoebe Ryan does not fit in to any box trying to define her. She’s neither pure glam pop nor alternative, but her stage presence feels down-to-earth yet also shows confidence. Phoebe performed her Chainsmokers collaboration “All We Know” as well as her latest effort “Forgetting All About You”, a collaboration with blackbear (who even joined her on stage for the song’s performance).

If you’d like to see Phoebe Ryan for yourself, you’re in luck: She recently announced a headlining tour for this fall, with support from morgxn and Molly Kate Kesner. Head on over to her website to see if she’ll be performing in a town near you.
