When we speculated on the story about Kendrick Lamar’s video for new song “HUMBLE,” we guessed the April 7 date teased in “The Heart Part 4” meant his fourth studio album would be out today. It turns out just the news of the actual release date would be released, and that date is just a week away. Lamar’s next album will drop next Friday, April 14.

The release is the first new project from Lamar since 2016’s untitled unmastered. and the first studio album since 2015’s To Pimp A Butterfly. The pre-order page for the album on iTunes holds few clues. The album is listed only as ALBUM, the cover art is completely black, and each of the fourteen tracks besides “HUMBLE” is simply listed as “TRACK [Number].” Knowing Lamar, we wouldn’t put it past him to leave it like that.

No matter what the album ends up being called, we can’t wait to hear more from the current king of rap. The new record is being released through Top Dawg Entertainment.
