We are so very close to having a new Los Campesinos! album in our lives. After an almost four-year wait, the band’s new album Sick Scenes arrives next Friday, February 24. In advance of this joyous occasion, the band has released a track that embodies the best of their introspective side, “The Fall Of Home” (via The AV Club).

While the track is soft and gentle, it doesn’t make it any less complex. As vocalist Gareth sings sadly, the track blends layers of equally intricate acoustic guitar, keys, and a heart-achingly mournful violin. It’s a brisk three-minute experience that fades out into a contemplative nothing at the end as quickly as it begins. Gareth discussed the origin of the song in a press release, stating:

“This is an elegy to the home towns left behind. It’s about the villages too stifling to ever allow you or itself to flourish. About those who left to protect their mental health or to be the best version of themselves. To those who moved to the city and return ‘home’ for Christmas and funerals, feeling like a tourist. For the lonely people in rented house shares with no idea what they’re doing. And it’s for those who didn’t want to or couldn’t leave, and are still hanging in there.”

Sick Scenes is being released through Wichita Recordings, and can still be pre-ordered. The band is also on tour, with dates listed below and tickets currently on sale.
