Do you love bands like Hot Water Music, Jawbreaker, and Polar Bear Club? If so, you’re going to love Goddamnit. The Philadelphia post-punk band is gearing up to release their second album, depressingly titled I’ll Never Be Okay, I’ll Never Be The Same, on March 3 through Jump Start Records, and today Substream has teamed up with the four-piece to share the album’s lead single, “Steady Diet Of Sugar.”

When talking about the ideas behind the song, guitarist/vocalist Arik Victor offered, “Some people hide behind a fake personality or lots of makeup, pretend to be happy, sweet, and make sure everyone likes them. That’s not exactly a healthy way to live…like a steady diet of sugar.”

With a driving rhythm, catchy sing-along chorus, and succinct runtime, “Steady Diet Of Sugar” is ripe with replay value. It also feels comfortingly familiar while simultaneously fresh and exciting for the genre. Give it a listen (or 10) below then report back with your thoughts.
