Kentucky rock band Artifex Pereo are poised to release their sophomore full-length, titled Passengers, on September 9 through Tooth and Nail Records. We’ve partnered with the band today to share a Michael-Rex Carbonell-directed lyric video for a brand new single taken from the album, titled “Soft Weapons.” For the visuals, the song’s lyrics act as subtitles to serenely floating drone shots overlooking a beautiful port. Check it out below.

Going in depth on the themes found in their newest single, Artifex Pereo vocalist Lucas Worley offers the following:

“The song is basically about how much people trust in the media or the one side of the story that is presented to them. No one is truly willing to seek out correct and true information on any given topic and are content to digest the small, biased media bite provided by the same people who spun the narrative of the situation in the first place. Everyone thinks of propaganda as a WWII Nazi relic that isn’t really a part of society today, when in reality every single part of our life has been programmed since birth. Society is propaganda. Real truth is increasingly difficult to find so we all let others form our opinions for us. The song is meant to point that out and try and hold everyone responsible for seeking out their own information and making decisions based on truth, rather than a spun story engineered to illicit a response.”

Pre-orders for Passengers are available in various formats and bundle options through MerchNow. To celebrate and support the album’s release, the band will head out on tour next month with I The Mighty, Dayshell, and Picturesque beginning in Sacramento, CA the day the album drops.
