During Comic-Con we got a preliminary look at Netflix and Marvel’s next upcoming superhero show, Luke Cage. With Cage taking out bad guys to Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya,” it was a pretty great teaser. Today we get a much longer look at the series, and it’s shaping up to be another stellar entry into Marvel’s live action TV family.
We see parts of the experiment that gave Mike Colter’s Cage his powers, and we see his decision to start using those powers to help the people of Harlem. The trailer also gives us a healthy dose of Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson), even though IMDb only lists her as appearing in one episode. Mahershala Ali also makes a suitably menacing villain as Cornell Stokes, his suit covered in blood. “You want to go to war?” Stokes asks Cage, “I’ll take you to war.” And of course we get more fight scenes showing off Cage’s strength and unbreakable skin, including one where a bad guy makes the questionable decision to throw a punch only to break his hand against Cage’s jaw.
We’ve got the excellent trailer embedded below for you to watch. Now to binge-watch Jessica Jones a dozen more times before Luke Cage heads to Netflix on September 30.
