Indiana pop-punk band the Weekend Classic have an aggressive new genre banger, titled “Tethered,” that will see an official release on Friday, July 15. Featuring a guest spot from Knuckle Puck vocalist Joe Taylor in the song’s back half, the four-piece’s newest single is sure to find fans in those who enjoy Taylor’s work as well as acts like the Story So Far and Such Gold. You can listen to “Tethered” below.
Speaking to Substream, the Weekend Classic guitarist/vocalist Ryan Wells says, “This past April, we entered the studio with Seth Henderson (Real Friends, Knuckle Puck) at Always Be Genius in Crown Point, IN. We spent five days recording three new songs. ‘Tethered’ is the first to be released, and we couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out.” Wells continues, “We are inspired by bands like the Wonder Years, Real Friends, and Knuckle Puck because they’ve all built their fanbases from the ground up. We’ve been jamming Knuckle Puck records for years now, and it is awesome that Joe Taylor could be a part of our music for a song. We can’t thank him enough for taking the time to track the part, and the song turned out better than we imagined.” On the themes within the single itself, Wells offers, “‘Tethered’ is about looking back on a past relationship and recognizing where things went wrong. We’re always striving for self-progression, and we hope we can invoke that in our listeners as well.”
On July 19, you can see the band on the Vans Warped tour in Noblesville, IN.
