If you have yet to binge away a weekend watching the Netflix original series Narcos you only have a small window of time to catch up before season two of the popular show arrives in September. Consider this your first and only warning.
Today, Netflix shared the first trailer for the second season of Narcos. Notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar is now on the run, with the Colombian authorities in relentless pursuit. The authorities are determined to put an end to Escobar’s illegal activities, but as anyone who watches the show knows completing such a task is going to prove quite daunting. You can view the footage below:
The perspective we’re given in this trailer is not that of Escobar, but rather one of the men assigned to find him. Whether or not this is the perspective viewers will follow in season two remains to be seen, but if so it could prove to be a good change of pace for the series. Viewers have already spent a great deal of time with Escobar and the people he chooses to surround himself with, so switching gears and showing the work done by law enforcement to find Escobar and shut down his extended network of contacts could make for compelling (not to mention original) storytelling.
Again, all of this is up in the air. All we know for certain right now is that Narcos is coming back in early September and it is one of the best original series Netflix has produced to date. It’s also the company’s biggest multilingual program, which has given the show an international audience far bigger than some of the original series that are big here in the United States (such as House Of Cards, for example).
