In recent years San Diego Comic-Con has a reputation for giving us a boatload of fantastic trailers, and this year is no different. We’ve already seen trailers for Luke Cage and a new Blair Witch movie (previously marketed as The Woods), and today we got our first look at DC’s highly anticipated Wonder Woman movie.
Gal Godot’s Diana Prince/Wonder Woman was one of the best parts of this year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and she continues to shine in the SDCC trailer. After Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) washes up on the shores of her island, Diana accompanies him back to our world, where World War I is raging. What follows is Diana taking charge and doing battle with sword, shield, and the iconic, golden Wonder Woman lasso. We see battlefields both set in the European theater and on the beach as the Amazons ride in on horses. It’s clear from the trailer that director Patty Jenkins’ vision for the film is excellent. Also of note, there are actual jokes in the trailer, indicating that DC might have learned their lesson from BVS that “serious” doesn’t have to mean “humorless.”
Watch the trailer for Wonder Woman below. Starring Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen along with Godot and Pine, Wonder Woman is headed to theaters next summer. Keep checking back in here at Substream for more Comic-Con trailers as they come.
