One listen to Sharp/Shock‘s new LP, Unlearn Everything, is all it takes to understand Alkaline Trio‘s desire to get this band on their label, Heart&Skull. Permeating with a similar brand of gritty and catchy punk that Matt Skiba and Co. have been delighting fans with for just shy of two decades, Sharp/Shock seemingly draw influences from the likes of Rancid, Social Distortion, and undoubtedly earlier punk pioneers in the vein of Ramones. Still, while familiar, Unlearn Everything is as fresh as they come, with an authentic and youthful vitality and impressively smooth production that only strengthens its listenability and replay value.

Speaking on the choice he and his partners have made to add Sharp/Shock to their label, Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio, blink-182) says:

“It is an absolute honor to welcome Sharp/Shock to the Heart&Skull family. We started our label to not only put out our own releases but to also release music by people we consider close friends. Family. In a business that is growing exceedingly difficult to find true allies in, we are proud to offer a situation for artists in which the most important goal is to publish great art by great people. To have Sharp/Shock as our maiden partnership in this venture is something we have always hoped for but until recently, haven’t imagined. From the first time we heard their record we knew that they were a perfect fit. We are extremely thankful that they felt the same way. It is an amazing feeling to help such a great group of people put out this amazing record via Heart&Skull.”

Sharp/Shock’s Unlearn Everything is out today, June 10. You can experience it in full below, where you’ll also find the band’s music video for single “Away From The Man.” Digital copies of the record are available through iTunes, while vinyl and other merch can be picked up through the band’s webstore.
