Since leaving Transit in 2014, vocalist/guitarist Tim Landers has kept himself plenty busy, first playing in pop-punk act Misser, then starting the project Off & On and now forming another new band, Cold Collective, alongside former Defeater guitarist Gus Pesce. While Landers played a huge role in shaping Transit’s sound throughout the years, Cold Collective is no simple retread—their debut album, Bachelorette Party, is a grungy ’90s alt-rock throwback with his distinctive vocals sweetening everything up.

Today, we’re premiering the music video for Cold Collective’s new song “Tred,” directed by Alexa San Roman. Landers had this to say about the song’s genesis:

“I spent a lot of time considering how to truly embrace the emotions being portrayed in each song’s subject matter when writing and recording. I intentionally toyed with the spelling of the word. Beside the definition of the word ‘tread’ it shows the pronunciation as ‘tred.’ In a lot of ways, that was how I felt. When I felt like someone was treading me, they were just keeping heads above water—knowing it wasn’t right.”

Cold Collective’s Bachelorette Party will be released May 13 via Rise Records and can be pre-ordered here.
