Of all the high profile features the premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in January, Swiss Army Man was among the most discussed. The surreal film stars Paul Dano (Youth, Little Miss Sunshine) as Hank, a suicidal man stranded on an island who befriends a farting corpse played by Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. That may sound utterly ridiculous to you, and it is.
The first trailer for Swiss Army Man found its way online early this morning, and it’s safe to say from the trailer that this is not a film the general public is likely to greet with a warm embrace. After meeting his new friend, Hank begins to question his grip on reality as he and the corpse plot to help him make it home. This is teased through a montage that finds Radcliffe’s character, Manny, singing and vomiting fresh water as if he were a broken fire hydrant, amongst other things. You can the view the footage below.
A24, who acquired the rights to Swiss Army Man shortly after its premiere, will begin rolling out the film to theaters on June 17 with a wide release planned for the beginning of July. No VOD date has been revealed.
