Petaluma, California punk band Tsunami Bomb was a Warped Tour mainstay a decade ago, playing the tour in 2002, 2003 and 2005 before breaking up later that year. Now, the band will return to the Warped stage once more—only not exactly in the form you might remember.
Tsunami Bomb officially reunited at the end of 2015 with a lineup featuring original members Brian Plink (guitar), Dominic Davi (bass), Oobliette Sparks (keyboards/vocals) and Gabe Lindeman (drums), along with new vocalist Kate Jacobi. This lineup (sans Jacobi) played on the band’s early EPs Mayhem On The High Seas and Invasion From Within, both of which were included alongside other Tsunami Bomb obscurities on the new rarities compilation Trust No One, out now via Kung Fu Records.
Jacobi is stepping in for the band’s most well-known vocalist, Emily “Agent M” Whitehurst. Whitehurst declined to participate in the reunion, instead choosing to focus on her electronic project Survival Guide.
This new-old version of Tsunami Bomb will join up with this summer’s Warped Tour for two dates in the Pacific Northwest: August 12 in Auburn, Washington, and August 13 in Portland, Oregon.
“It’s awesome, and I’m stoked to do it,” bassist Dominic Davi says. “I’ve done it with different bands before, but it’s significant to be back with Tsunami Bomb this time. We are grateful to Kevin Lyman to make room for us, because it’s kind of a safe place for us to come back to. Tsunami Bomb has always done well on Warped Tour, and so many of our friends will be there.”
