Let’s destroy the myth of the “friend zone” right now, shall we? It’s something invented by guys wearing fedoras who say “m’lady” when holding open doors for people who then react poorly when they realize they’re not viewed as a potential sexual partner for a woman they like. Guess what, dudes: You are not entitled to demand sex from someone just because you were nice to them. In fact, nobody is entitled to demand sex from anybody, no matter what your gender or previously defined relationship is! Grand Rapids, Michigan, punk quartet the Lippies understand this, too, as their new song “Friend Zone” spells out pretty clearly. Frontwoman Tonia Broucek explains:

“‘Friend Zone’ is about guys posing as friends to get laid—and then getting mad when you don’t want to have sex with them.”
