If the name Me Like Bees sounds familiar, it might be because you’re a Never Shout Never fan—the Joplin, Missouri, natives just joined Christofer Drew & Co. for a brief Midwestern tour. (Joplinites gotta stick together, right?) The bouncy indie rock quartet recently recorded a brand new EP, There Will Be Time, with producer du jour John Feldmann, and lead single “Tundraland” is a downright exquisite example of how much fun it is to sing along with a great pop song. For the video for the song, the band outfitted frontman Luke Scheafer in a dog costume and constructed a clever, cute story about a rambunctious pup who accidentally escapes his master and draws the ire of a villainous dog catcher. Guitarist Pete Burton (who also plays the dog catcher in the music video) explains:

“We enjoy humiliating Luke, so we came up with the idea of putting him in a dog costume. It was a pretty fun shoot! I pulled my hamstring, though… it took like two weeks to heal. It was a bad pull!”

Me Like Bees’ There Will Be Time EP will be released April 8.

Me Like Bees’ next show is March 12 at Joplin Memorial Hall in Joplin, Missouri, with Ben Miller Band (details).
